Day 2
Ok, i literally have not posted anything relating to my story in some months, but I’ve managed to write a bit over the last few days, so here it is!
I awoke the next morning when the sun rose in the east. From the ridge, to the southeast, there were three of the giant trees. One was closer up than the other two, then there was a lake, and finally two of the giant trees, one to the west of the lake and one to the east.
The large trees were in a dense rain forest, but, unlike the ones of Earth, it only had a few layers of foliage. Most of the trees were the same height With the exception of some slender minaret like trees and the giant trees.
The mountain we were on was on the edge of the island. On the landward side of the mountain there was another mountain to the south east and two large hills to the south west. Separating the hills from the other mountain was a river. Past the hills was were the tree line began, it was about mile from our ridge. A mile past the tree line was the giant tree, and about a mile past that was the lake. On the hills below was a thick cloud of mist
My party awoke when a giant pterodactyl like bird soared over head and screeched. Clevedar jumped up and with a startled yelled “Altek-Mane!” An old Transinon word for a banshee of the morning. To sooner than he yelled, a murder of about seven more lifted from the fog.
They were massive and they were twice the size of the Quetzalcoatlus from Earth, before we were destroyed. They were similar to them, but they had two sets of wings, the first was close to 20 yards, and the second was about 10. They were about 30 yards from beak to its tails tip. Their heads were about a yard long and it was very slender. Their beaks were black, Their eyes were midway down its head. In front of their eyes were a brightly colored crest like horns, some were red, others orange or blue. The tops of their heads were covered with horns. Their necks were five feet long. Their bodies were very slender too, like the heads, but their bodies were a dull green tinted grey. Then, after the neck, is where they had their first wing pairs, the first joint had three fingers, the second had two. The wings were leathery looking, but colored with bright patterns. Next on their bodies were legs, just two. Their legs were the green tinted grey too, and at their ends were three toes on the front of the feet and one on the back. After the legs were the smaller wing set. They had no fingers, but were brightly colored. The tall took up half the body length.
The altek-mane rose from the fog and perched near the top of the mountain we were on. They looked back at the spot in the fog they had came from and screeched. Then I saw movement in the fog. There was a party of ten of the hunters, and two hunters that were twice the size of the rest. The large hunter’s body was triangular in shape, with the tip facing down. It also had two sets of arms. From this distance I could see that they had three main colors on them. Their heads were brightly colored, then their shoulders were a brown with streaks of the color on their heads, and the rest of their bodies were a maroon color. I decided then that the little ones should be called krotje, old Transinion for tiered hunter. The big one I called krotjeos, or big tiered hunter.
Then there was a scuffle in the fog. The hunting party was wrangling a baby altek-mane. Two of the krotje attacked the altek-mane as it tried to fly away, but they ripped its wing in mid flight, so it plummeted to the ground. One of the altek above noticed the youngsters peril and swooped down for an attack. It grabbed an assaulting krotje, lifting it into the air. A krotjeos jumped and grabbed the krotje’s leg, anchoring it to the ground. The altek flapped its wings faster and harder and began to lift up again, so two krotje began an elegant acrobatic maneuver. They plopped down onto all fours. One jumped on top of a rock while the other position its self under the ascending altek. Then they jumped high in the air toward the altek. The krotje from the rock landed on the other one in mid air. It then proceeded to launch itself from the other onto the Altek. The krotje grabbed onto the altek’s neck, and started viciously attacking it. The altek flailed around in the air trying to shake the krotje loose, but the inevitable happened when a mass of purple blood begun dripping from the altek’s neck. Soon after the altek dropped to the ground.
